About Me

I am a mom.  I am an optimist.  I love God, and I love my family.  I am and have always been the girl with the smile on her face.  Most people who know me insist that I’m an eternal optimist, but those who know me best also know that I have days when I need encouragement just like everyone else.  I know the joy I have does not come from me but from God who created me and gave me the gift of salvation through Jesus.  He is the one who has filled my heart with joy.  As 1 Peter 1:8 says, “Though you have not seen Him, you love Him; and even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy.”

Lynnette (AKA The Moptimist)

My husband, who is the most content person I know, and I live in Texas and enjoy what we call “doing life” together: cooking, cleaning, eating, working on projects around the house, spending time with our daughter, and enjoying the outdoors.  We love studying The Bible and growing our faith together.

My first precious daughter was born in January 2011, and watching her radiate joy when faced with a seemingly boring and ordinary object inspired me to start this blog.  Since then, my second daughter was born in November 2012, and I see ordinary things blossom into amazing wonders right in front of her eyes.  Other hobbies of mine include cooking and baking, board games, disc golf, walking/hiking, gardening, reading, and couponing.

Me and my three favorite people.

You will find that many of my posts focus on food or the human body, both of which I have been fascinated with for as long as I can remember, which led me to study nutrition and physical therapy in college.  Currently, I am not working as a physical therapist but instead am enjoying being a stay-at-home mom.

One caveat: I understand that some of you may not have the same group of things to be thankful for (everyone has a different set of abilities and circumstances).  Instead, may you be inspired to find joy in the ordinary, the normal, the tedious, and the sometimes mundane parts of your own life.
